Description
Coffee Table Book of: Christmas Ornaments. Small decorations can hold a wide range of materials and forms. This collection follows reflective glass, shaped beads, woven straw, carved wood, paper and soft fibres through a varied group of seasonal objects.
Clear and coloured glass appears in balls, bells, drops and long pointed forms. Mirrored surfaces and simple painted patterns show how a familiar shape can change with its finish.
The collection also turns to tied straw, wooden animals, lace, felt, folded paper and thin metal. Each object is shown whole, with space around it to make its outline and construction easy to follow.
Short notes run through the book, on materials, surface decoration and the ways small objects are joined and hung: a mould can give a glass ornament a familiar animal shape, straight straw stems can be arranged into a star, crossed stems can form a hollow woven structure, and a string of glass beads can be divided into shorter decorative pieces.
Printed in full colour on heavy 150gsm coated paper at 216 x 279 mm (8.5 x 11 inches), as a hardcover with the art printed on the case.
