Description

Coffee Table Book of: Fruits of the World. Fruit offers a rich range of shapes, skins and interiors. This collection brings orchard favourites, citrus, berries and tropical forms into quiet arrangements on linen, stone and wood.

Whole fruits show their natural surfaces. Cut halves reveal seeds, stones, pith and the patterns within. The arrangements remain simple, leaving room for the differences between a dusty plum, a bright pomegranate and a pale green pear.

A few views of growing plants and orchard paths place the harvest back in the garden. The changing scale moves from the texture of a rind to the outline of a small tree.

Short notes run through the book, on seed structures, growing forms and the surfaces of familiar produce: each juicy pomegranate aril surrounds a seed, a peach stone is a hard case surrounding the seed, the rind encloses the separate segments of a citrus fruit, and the raised net on some melon rinds gives the surface a rough texture.

Printed in full colour on heavy 150gsm coated paper at 216 x 279 mm (8.5 x 11 inches), as a paperback.
