Description
The first cat show opened its doors to the public on 13th July, 1871 at the Crystal Palace in London. It was a triumphant success and a brave venture on the part of organizer and cat lover Harrison Weir who foresaw the steady rise in cats as pets in middle class Victorian homes. Each cat pen was furnished with a scarlet velvet cushion and a bowl of fresh milk replenished daily.
