Description
Beneath the Same Stars follows the story of Novalee Moreno and Oaks Hudson, two childhood best friends who grow up in Alpine Utah as devoted members of the LDS church. Oaks grows up under a microscope by the community as the son of the bishop to his neighborhood church, and Novalee struggles with being the black sheep in her family who can never quite fall in line with the church values taught to her.
When Oaks and Novalee go against their parent’s wishes and secretly date, they fall into dangerous territories with their feelings that cause a haze of confusion between everyone involved. When a catastrophic event causes Novalee to question her faith, she takes comfort in Oaks—someone who has the same doubts but lives in denial to keep his family happy—and just when they choose to embark down a road of authentication, Novalee is left betrayed by Oaks in an unforgiveable way that causes her to run from the life she has known for so long.
Eleven years later, Oaks is still stuck in his Mormon cacoon trying to navigate his feelings for a fiancé who is converting into the LDS church to earn his blessing at marriage. Novalee—after resigning from the LDS church– builds a life in California where she becomes a successful musician and can finally leave the unauthentic version of herself behind her. That is, until a medical condition pulls the rug out from beneath her. When Oaks and Novalee both find themselves at their lowest, they randomly stumble into each other’s broken path—both yearning for different versions of closure.
The story of Beneath the Same Stars is a heartfelt second-chance romance that explores the complexities of love, faith, and identity. It is a story of growth, forgiveness, and finding balance between the heart and the soul when searching for your true authentic self.
This book is complimentary to most Contemporary Romances, it does have a happy ending and offers a deep message that readers can find relatable through their own courageous experiences.
