Description

The Three Hats Collection brings together original compositions and arrangements for Highland bagpipes by Pipe Major James Craib. It includes marches, strathspeys, reels, slow airs, waltzes, jigs and hornpipes, drawing on a lifetime of piping, friendship and family connections.

The title reflects James’s membership of three pipe bands between 2021 and 2024: the Queen’s Own Highlanders Association Pipe Band, the Northern Constabulary Community Pipe Band, and Ross and Cromarty Pipes and Drums.

Alongside the music, photographs and the ‘Tales of the Tunes’ section introduce the people, places and occasions behind many of the pieces. Personal tributes, celebrations and moments of humour give the collection a character rooted in Scotland’s piping community.

Published by Melville Music Books, this collection offers pipers a varied source of repertoire to explore and enjoy.
