Description
This novel critiques the British Prison System of its time. John Boyle O’Reilly (1844-1890) poet and novelist. As he belonged to the Irish Republican Brotherhood in youth, he was transported to Western Australia. After escaping to the United States, he became a prominent spokesperson for Irish sentiment and culture.
