Description

Vol 4 adapted for Children. Part of a 4 part collection. Vol 1 to 3 not to be used, discussed or show to children as they are adult content.  Vol 4 is described only for under 18s. The message is the same – have a voice- ask for help.

Children often carry adult worries. Between family stress, big feelings, and everyday pressures, they quietly take things in, somethings were never meant for them. The world is changing so our way to talk about issues and mental health needs to change with it. Things are becoming harder. The world is sometimes too busy it listen or children do not have the words to explain their feelings or know when to share and when not and with who.

I wrote The Waterproof Mind because children deserve simple, safe ways to let stress roll right off their backs and to understand why to ask for help and how to help themselves.

People can always help but you yourself need to deal with your own feelings and children as well as adults need to learn how to regulate and how to share. How to ask for help and why.

It is a gentle, practical toolkit filled with powerful animal metaphors, like a duck’s natural preen gland, that teaches children how to scale their worries, protect their peace, and hand adult-sized problems back to the adults who belong to them.

It teaches resilience, emotional literacy, tries to open a door to communication and feelings.

It builds character and understanding!

Seven lesson ideas and key sayings and take aways.

Weather, clouds, 20 degrees and 340, V Formation, Preen Gland, Ducks and more !..

Quotes

’A Waterproof Mind is not about never feeling worried. It is about knowing that help, hope and support are always available.’

Author Biography:

Ms. Taylor is an author, educator, lyricist and multidisciplinary creator dedicated to transforming personal trauma, grief, and life challenges into a public toolkit for healing and resilience. Following the passing of her mum and years of witnessing cycles of depression and loss, she channeled her journey into the four-volume series, Giving Myself My Voice Back!.

Her works have earned high praise from IndieReader, which hailed Volume 1 as an ‘open-hearted, vulnerable, and compassionate awakening which would resonate with others witnessing loved ones with mental health issues’, noting it as a profound reclamation of personal power. Volume 2 (Like a Duck!) was similarly commended as a practical guide blending poetry, memoir, and workbook elements, praised for offering an accessible style that helps readers navigate life’s challenges, recast bad days through clever metaphors, and make a quietly bold case for retiring the word ‘abuse’ in favor of ‘Emotional Bystander’.

Bridging memoir, self-help, and education, her series provides a comprehensive roadmap for anyone navigating complex grief and family stress. Beyond the page, Ms. Taylor’s project extends into music as a singer-songwriter with 21 original songs streaming on Spotify and Apple Music (featured in Vol. 3: Love Always Project), as well as educational resources and PHSE lesson adaptations designed to build emotional literacy in children and young adults.

Entered in to several music and indie author contest for 2027 to show dedication to her Mum and to mental health and others. Also to show her Mum I believe you. My Voice matters and my writing is good. It only takes one voice to make a difference.
