Apollo 14 Flight Plan

Description

Originally issued in January 1971 by NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center, the Apollo 14 Flight Plan served as the complete operational schedule and procedures guide for the third successful lunar landing mission. This facsimile edition faithfully reproduces the original document, preserving the precise formatting, technical tables, timelines, and detailed instructions used by NASA engineers, flight controllers, and the Apollo 14 crew.

Covering all phases of the mission—from launch and translunar flight to lunar orbit, descent, surface operations, rendezvous, and Earth return—the plan provides an authentic look at the extraordinary level of preparation behind an Apollo lunar mission. Apollo 14 carried astronauts Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, and Edgar Mitchell to the Moon, with Shepard and Mitchell landing in the Fra Mauro region and conducting two periods of lunar surface exploration.

Following the near-disaster of Apollo 13, Apollo 14 marked NASA’s successful return to the lunar surface and continued the increasingly ambitious scientific exploration of the Moon.

An essential reference for historians, students, engineers, and space enthusiasts, this edition offers a rare and accurate window into the operational groundwork behind one of NASA’s landmark lunar exploration missions.
