Description
Gustave Posno assembled one of the notable private cabinets of antiquities of the Second Empire and after: Egyptian bronzes and funerary figures, Greco-Roman glass and terracotta, Roman objects of daily use. This catalogue describes the collection piece by piece, with the attributions and provenances of its day.Collection catalogues of this kind are often the only surviving record of objects long since dispersed, and are read today as documents of collecting history. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1874 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
