Description

The village signed a petition asking the vampire to leave. Somebody brought a stake.

The Count has owned the castle and the village below it for 400 years. When the rents went up, 8,100 villagers signed a petition asking him to live somewhere else: bakers, blacksmiths, gravediggers, garlic farmers and 162 vampire hunters, and every one of them put a name and a trade on the page. The village says it only wanted him gone. Somebody on that petition wanted more.

The killer is somewhere in the petition at the back of this book.

You have 24 clues to work through. Check each clue against the names on the petition and eliminate anyone who doesn’t fit. Keep going until only one name remains.

8,100 names. 24 clues. One killer.

Inside the case file

  • A printed petition of 8,100 signatures, each with a signature number, a name and a village trade
  • 24 clues covering names, signature numbers, trades and who signed near whom
  • Full instructions and a worked example to show you exactly how the puzzle works
  • One unique solution, checked against every entry
  • The final answer is printed in code, so you won’t accidentally see the solution while working through the book
  • Difficulty: 1 out of 3, the casual end of the series’ difficulty ratings

How the puzzle works

Each clue gives you another fact about the killer. If a name doesn’t match the clue, strike it from the petition. As more clues are applied, the list gets smaller and the possibilities narrow.

This is a deduction puzzle built around a very large suspect list. There are no riddles to solve and no complicated grid to fill. Just 8,100 names, 24 clues and a process of elimination that leads to one answer.

Who it’s for

Murder mystery fans who enjoy solving the case themselves. Vampire and gothic readers who like a mystery with a castle and a village full of suspects. Anyone who likes logic puzzles and wants an easy way in, or a relaxed case to work through over a few evenings. It’s a good pick for Halloween too.

A vampire murder mystery logic puzzle book for adults.

8,100 names are waiting. One of them is the killer. And the village insists it only wanted him to leave.
