Description

This publication aims to record, and illustrate where possible, every piece of insignia worn by the 3rd Queen Alexandra’s Own Gurkha Rifles from the founding of the Regiment in 1815 to 1947. Each piece is described, together with details of the dates when worn, by whom it was worn and on what form of dress. The authority or provenance when known is also given. Each insignia is grouped into sections and within each section the different pieces are given a serialletter and number. In some cases there are blank numerals. These indicate that there should be a piece in the period but no details are known. All illustrations except where noted are full size, with the dimensions of known specimens recorded in the text.
