Description

A sweeping, multi-generational family saga that delivers an exciting and page-turning historical crime thriller.

It’s a captivating story of love, betrayal and redemption for colonial sins.

Dublin, 2021. A Sikh-Irish CEO is arrested and faces life-threatening challenges in prison as his world falls apart. An illicit affair. A grandfather murdered on a Kenyan road in 1967. And a colonial-era crime syndicate that has waited sixty years for revenge.

As Apu fights for his freedom, his family chase the truth across continents, into a past that someone has spent a lifetime burying.

It all begins in the Punjab, with the sons of a carpenter emigrating to Kenya and building a fortune in a country where the Empire has stolen vast lands from the Kikuyu and Maasai. Those who resisted were killed or imprisoned in labour camps of unspeakable horror.

Through four generations, the Karta family carry their faith with them, the Kara on the wrist, the Gurdwara at the heart of every new city, and the duty and honour of the head of the family, handed from father to son.

Around them, an Irish crime boss and a Kikuyu chief forge an uneasy alliance that corrupts the colonial government from within, and threatens the very existence of the Karta family.

The Karta Legacy is the first book of the Karta Trilogy, a compelling saga of inheritance and complicity that traces the conflict from its roots in India and the plains of East Africa to a dramatic and unexpected climax.
