Mavra Bryony made paintings, collages, sculptures and poems throughout her long life.  A true individual, Mavra delighted in so many things and was particularly aware of them having suffered the privations of a wartime childhood.  Her capacity for enjoyment of everyday experiences and things from poetry to potatoes and from snails to surrealism was infectious – and all expressed in her initimitable rhyming poetry which she usually described as ‘doggeral’.  Her extraordinary vocabulary had her editor checking the dictionary many times and her verve for life right through to her late 80s was inspirational.
