Why are we choosing to betray our own existence by blindly adhering to the structures and mindsets that want to keep us insignificant and remorseful? Is it because we are so afraid that we are not worthy to live exactly as we were meant to—to flourish with our hearts’ content?

Through my art series, Shared Wisdom of the Original Heart and the complementary essays in this chapbook, I invite you to see another way to live. The messages I offer are for the kindred spirits who have locked away their own inner child, believing that this is the only way to survive in the adult world. But we know that children cannot stay quiet. When silenced, they grow to become the tortured poets, the hesitant creators, or the Faustian traitors of the soul.

By following how a meditative practice of digital calligraphy turned into a maze of international copyright laws, trademark creeps, and institutional control, I uncover a deeper collective truth about the meaning of authority, justice, and freedom. Humanity’s misinterpretations of these truths have left us with a legacy of collective trauma. But yet, inside of us is a compass that empowers us to reclaim our sovereignty beyond the systems that commodify our worth and smother our creativity.

Let the pain of our ancestors show us where we need to heal, and let the innocence of our inner child teach us what we need to nurture. We have the awareness that those in the past did not have to consider their options. The time is now to honour the value of our own lives.
