Description
Written between the mid-thirteenth century and the first third of the fourteenth century, the story of Albina and her sisters is one of the early foundation myths of the British Isles. After plotting to murder their husbands, Albina and her sisters are set adrift in a vessel without rudder or food. They eventually make landfall on a nameless island, which Albina names after herself.
This edition has the Anglo-Norman text from the British Library MS. Cotton Cleopatra D.ix and a facing-page English translation. It also has an introduction by J.S. Mackley.
