In 1957 the legendary Donald Campbell founded the K7 Club after a triumphant record attempt on Coniston. The club’s mission is to celebrate and support individuals who push the boundaries of speed on land, sea, and air, whether by their own achievements or by assisting others. Each year, during Records Week, the K7 Club honours the competitors who have achieved remarkable record-breaking feats.
This captivating history documenting the first 53 years of the K7 Club offers a glimpse into previously unseen documents, photographs, memorabilia, and personal accounts from those who were closely connected to Campbell. Hear from Anthony Robinson, the son of Connie Robinson who ran the Sun Inn in Coniston, the headquarters for the record attempts; Geoff Hallawell, the photographer responsible for capturing all of Campbell’s epic endeavours in the UK; Bill Vanryne, the engineer on the Rotax compressed air starting system; Robin Brown, the son of Donald’s close friend Andrew Brown and the last person to have speak with Donald (other than those on the radio) before his final run; and Clive Glynn, helper in 1966/7.
