One of the seminal works on Chinese philosophy, The Analects gathers up the teachings of the great sage Confucius, compiled by his followers posthumously. Despite their origins dating back five centuries BCE, Confucius’ teachings form the foundation of Chinese ethics and philosophy, as well as education, and have spread to other parts of east Asia. For nearly two millennia, The Analects were a compulsory part of the Chinese imperial examinations. This volume, based on the classic translation by James Legge, is a newly edited and designed edition.
