Description
Aurelia Gay Mace (1835-1910) spent her life in the Shaker community of Sabbathday Lake, Maine, and wrote these letters to explain her faith to the world outside: the Shaker understanding of Christ, of celibacy, of common property, and of the revelation they believed continued in their own time.It is one of the clearest first-hand statements of Shaker belief, written as the communities were already declining. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1907 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
