Description
Terrified Tourists is Vala Hafstad’s humorous account of a trip to Iceland. “We must not have been sane or sober when deciding to come in October,” the narrator admits. The weather is rotten, the roads icy, and a volcanic eruption is imminent. The guide tells no uplifting stories, only ones involving “sculls that were split and throats that were viciously slit.” No wonder the group needs a drink every night. This is Vala Hafstad’s third book and is based on her own experience as a tourist guide in Iceland. Ari Hlynur Gudmundsson Yates ingeniously captures the tourists’ fear in his humorous illustrations.
