Description

After fleeing the USA for England as a teenager to get away from his brutal father, George Mallory joins the British Army and ends up serving in Northern Ireland in the 1960s at the height of The Troubles. He and his fellow soldiers battle against the Black Balaclava Boys on a daily basis, trying to bring order to the deadly streets of the Province. Many men lose their lives, whilst others manage to make it back to England alive, but with injuries that will change their lives forever. Mac the Yank provides a harrowing account of what it was like for the British soldier on the streets of Londonderry at the time and how their camaraderie and the respect they have for one another, keep them going through the good times and the bad.
