This book represents a collection of poetry from a much larger body of work written by Arthur Dunkley during the course of a lifetime lived mostly in Africa, with some years spent in the UK. It covers several subject categories ranging from abstract, descriptive, narrative and philosophical work to love poems and war poetry. The poems are generally short and direct and easily understood and enjoyed. The book is beautifully illustrated by the author’s own photographic images. Arthur has previously published four small illustrated books of descriptive ‘veldsinger’ verse and a few of these poems are included in this anthology.
