Description
Printed at the Imprimerie royale of Sans-Souci in 1817, these political reflections by Pompée-Valentin, Baron de Vastey, secretary to King Henry Christophe, answer the French authors and journals — de Pradt, Malouet and others — who wrote about Haiti after the Restoration. The volume reprints official documents, including the Act of Independence of 1 January 1804. Text in French. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1817 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
