PainterWriter: A Catalogue

Description

PainterWriter: A Catalogue documents an exhibition of painting and texts by twenty-one contemporary painters. Although painting has long been interpreted by art historians, theorists, critics and art writers,  the ‘painter‑writer’ (the painter who writes) is a central yet critically overlooked figure. Their co‑extensive writing‑with‑making materially reshapes painting’s meanings and values from ‘inside practice’. This publication is paired with  PainterWriter: A Reader to accompany the exhibition PainterWriter at Oceans Apart, Salford (2026).
