Basil Platt was evacuated to the United States during World War II. He left Liverpool in August 1940, sponsored by the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Company. He and his brother lived with a family in North Canton Ohio Ohio and in 1942 Basil commence study at John Carroll University in Cleveland. At that time he started writing letters to the family in North Canton, a habit he continued through university and after his return to England, until 1950. This book is a transcription of those letters.
