In November 2003 Annie and John Chapman in Norfolk, England, hatched a plan to organise their first Tractor Road Run for ladies. The inaugural run in 2003 across the roads and fields of Norfolk involved 50 ladies and raised £16,500 donated to Cancer Research UK.
20 years on, this Road Run is now an established tradition well on its way to raising its first million pounds. Participation has increased year on year with 180 tractors involved in the 20th anniversary run. As the years have passed each tractor has been more extravagantly and imaginatively decorated in pink. The event is now widely anticipated and celebrated by the local population who turn out in emotional support of this heartfelt cause.
This book celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Ladies’ Tractor Road Run with anecdotes, memories and poems contributed by participants, those who have experienced breast cancer and their families. The book is richly illustrated with photographs of the run over the years.
