Invasion

Description

Six teens. Impossible powers. One summer to save the world.

John Chambers never asked to be a superhero. He just turned eighteen, which—in a world where the government drafts anyone with powers—means he’s running out of time.

His billionaire dad’s solution: assemble a privately sponsored hero team, the Protectorate, and put John in charge. Now he’s leading five strangers (okay, two friends, three strangers) through press conferences, power drills, and their first disastrous mission—one that costs a teammate her life and nearly breaks them all before they’ve really begun.

Then a time traveler tears open the sky and shows John the impossible: the dinosaurs’ descendants survived. On Mars. For sixty-five million years, they’ve watched Earth belong to someone else.

They want it back. And the invasion starts next month.

Between an estranged brother with a chip on his shoulder and a plasma bolt in his fist, a power-stealing predator hunting her own kind, and a rookie team that still can’t fly in formation, John has to figure out how to be a leader—before the whole world learns the hard way what happens when he fails.

Because some powers can’t save you. Some things, only your team can.

Also features the novella, Team Liberty vs the Martians, chronicling an early contact between humans and the deadly Saurians!

For fans of Renegades, Sky High, and The Extraordinaries—a story where the real superpower is learning to trust the people beside you.
