Insignia of The 4th Prince of Wales’s Own Gurkha Rifles

This publication aims to record, and illustrate where possible, every piece of insignia worn by 4th Prince of Wales’s Own Gurkha Rifles from the raising of the Regiment in 1857 to 1947. Each piece is described, together with details of the dates when worn, by whom it was worn and on what form of dress. The authority or provenance when known is also given. The insignia are grouped into sections covering the different types of insignia. Within each section the different pieces are given a serial letter and number. In some casesthere are blank numerals. These indicate that there should be a piece in the period but no details are known. All illustrations except where noted are full size, with the dimensions of known specimens recorded in the text.
