Description

In Montreal, Carl plots his escape from a secure unit where he’s been confined by his adopted son Corby. In Japan, Miriam, Carl’s adopted daughter and celebrated musician, approaches the end of her tour and prepares a rescue mission. In Nova Scotia, Kip, a writer, attempts to come to terms with his block and the loss of his father, while winter storms rage around him. Together and separately, through art, conversation and music – above all music – they help Carl navigate the final weeks of his life on the snow-bound Fundy shore. Behind it all looms the imperative of Carl’s final project, an ambitious wind sculpture, designed to put him right where he wants to be – in the middle of the music of the universe. The interplay of relationships, both old and new, the inevitable end-of-life challenges and questions, all these and more drive a compelling narrative.
