Henry Timberlake, born near the Tower of London, was an Elizabethan hipping merchant who plied his trade netwerm the Baltic and the Mediterranean. On one voyage he was delayed in Egypt and decided to visit the Holy Land. He published an account of his travel.

He spent his retirement years in the village of Titchfield in Hampshire.
