Description
A missing man and a New Year’s celebration about to turn deadly.
The owners of a gorgeous lakeside property are on an extended cruise, leaving house-sitter Ellie Prescott and her toy poodle, Toffee, to care for the property. Ellie hopes to enjoy her latest stay in Misty Pines before returning to Portland to face her pending divorce.
But peace proves short-lived when the owners’ son disappears. At first, nobody seems especially worried. Ryan Sheldon has drifted through jobs, friendships, and responsibilities before. According to locals, disappearing for a while is simply what Ryan does.
Ellie isn’t convinced.
As New Year’s Eve approaches, the town becomes distracted by competing celebrations—best friend Kayleigh’s carefully planned party at the Town Hall and Dale Abercrombie’s mysterious gathering near the foggy marina.
Between baking mountains of party food, Ellie uncovers whispers of unpaid debts, strained friendships, and secrets tied to the marina.
Then fireworks explode over Misty Pines… and the night ends in fatality.
Can Ellie uncover the truth before the fog clears and the killer slips away?
Perfect for fans of small-town mysteries, lovable pets, amateur sleuths, and cozy suspense with heart.
