Description
Johannes Christoph Gundlach (1810-1896), known in Cuba as Juan Gundlach, spent more than fifty years describing the fauna of the island, much of it new to science. This part of his Contribucion covers the Orthoptera — crickets, grasshoppers and their kin — species by species, with the localities and the habits he observed himself. It remains a foundational text of Caribbean entomology. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1881 Havana edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
