Description
The Gesta Romanorum (“Deeds of the Romans”) is a Latin collection of moralized tales compiled in the late 13th or early 14th century. Despite the title, most of the stories are medieval in origin, often with religious or moral lessons. It was widely popular and influential, providing source material for later writers like Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Gower. Translated from the latin by Charles Swan.
