Situated at Dunstable Downs, the London Gliding Club is one of the UK’s oldest glider clubs and this engaging history is not only a history of the club itself but also of the sport of gliding in general from its earliest beginnings.

Illustrated with many historical photographs it charts the development of gliders and their attendant winches as well as being full of interesting anecdotes of record-breaking flights, unusual ‘retreives’, accidents and mishaps, amusing incidents and other glider-related trivia.

All told, there is plenty here to entertain any gliding enthusiast or aviation historian.
