Complete aircraft appear beside separate propellers, cowling rings, panels and glazing. Rivets, folds, curves and reflected light give the smaller parts their own character.
Grass fields, plain aprons and empty hangar space provide a setting for the machines. A few distant flight views show how their outlines change against the sky.
Short notes run through the book, on aircraft parts, surface texture and the shapes found around an airfield: a cowling forms an outer shell around an engine, an exhaust pipe carries burnt gases away from an engine, a propeller rotates around its central hub, and wear can change the surface sheen of metal.
Printed in full colour on heavy 150gsm coated paper at 216 x 279 mm (8.5 x 11 inches), as a hardcover with the art printed on the case.
