МЛЕЧНОЕ

Description

МЛЕЧНОЕ (Mlechnoe / My Milky Way) brings together the early poems of Yuri Kolker, the Russian poet and essayist, written between 1958 and 1970, from his schooldays and university years to the threshold of adult life.

Until now, these poems have been available only in a small samizdat edition circulated privately. This volume brings together more than 150 poems, accompanied by a foreword by the author.

Written in Russian, the poems trace a young man’s coming of age in the Soviet 1960s: first love, the search for a voice and an identity, questions of public life, and the struggle to find a direction in life.

The book offers readers of Russian poetry, as well as those interested in Soviet cultural history, an intimate glimpse of a poet in the making and the world in which he came of age.
