In 1913 William Butler Yeats studied Modernist poetry with Ezra Pound, and from then on he based his writing on his life. What caused his sudden depression and despair in 1925? His poetry reveals his young Catholic extra-marital lover and illegitimate first son. She was murdered in June 1925.
