Description
Thirteen-year-old Lily Matthews has lived in Heywood for ninety-two days and has not made a single friend. Then she finds an old turnstile in the lowest corner of Queen’s Park. It has no fence, no gate, and no reason to be there, and it hums when she touches it.
Push through, and the park is the same, but the year is 1937. The boating lake is busy, the regatta is a week away, and Eleanor Wilson, the boathouse manager’s daughter, has been watching that turnstile for nine years.
Then the regatta’s prize, Captain Harrington’s silver compass, is stolen. Eleanor’s father is blamed, a property firm has plans for the lake, and the compass keeps pointing at Lily.
With eight days to find the thief, and a library full of faded newspapers waiting back in 2023, Lily must change what happened in 1937 before the lake, and the Wilsons, are lost for good.
The Harrington Compass is the first Turnstile Mystery.
