Description
William Henry Brisbane (1806-1878), a South Carolina planter and Baptist minister who freed his slaves and became an abolitionist, examines every Biblical text used in defence of slavery. Published in New York by the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, with commendatory notices by Theodore D. Weld, Sarah M. Grimké, Samuel Aaron and others. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1849 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
