Description
Julian the Antecessor’s Epitome, a sixth-century Latin digest of Justinian’s Greek Novels, was the form in which most of the Emperor’s later legislation reached the medieval West, glossed and taught in the law schools long before the Authenticum displaced it. Gustav Haenel’s edition collates twenty manuscripts and the early printed editions, with prolegomena, critical apparatus, the compendia of Nicolas Bohier, synoptic tables and an index — still the standard text. Reproduced from the photographic reprint issued by Otto Zeller at Osnabrück in 1965. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1873 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
