For some children a plan is not a preference. It is the thing holding the day together, and when it changes the whole day tilts.

When the Plan Changes is a story about that moment. The trip that is cancelled, the different route home, the person who was supposed to be there and is not. It takes the reaction seriously rather than treating it as an overreaction — because from the inside it is not one.

The story does not end with a child cheerfully accepting change. It ends somewhere more realistic and more useful: with the ground steadying, slowly, and the day continuing in a shape nobody chose.
