Description

The Sage is a practical book that journeys through Stoicism; it focuses on a character called Sage, who still struggles to be a Stoic and fails more frequently than he would want to do. In each chapter, there is a combination of a personal essay and an attempt by Sage to practice it; his temper, his solitude, his comparisons, his slow and modest way of improvement.

Several times, the book turns around and argues with itself, pointing out exactly where its own advice falls apart; the same thing that it asks you to do with your own beliefs.

This isn’t a book about becoming wise. It’s about the fact that nobody does, and that trying anyway is most of what there is.
