This is a true story based on the time when Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him), was the leader of the Muslims.
An army was sent under the leadership of Sa’d ibn Abi Waqas (may Allaah be pleased with him) to fight the Persians. When they reached the Tigris River they found the the Persians had destroyed the bridge and ships and there was no way for the army to cross. So they turned to Salman al Farsi (may Allaah be pleased with him) – who was Persian and had become Muslim – to help them!
