Tamati Parker
Born and raised in New Zealand, Tamati Parker made the move to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, in 2008 with his wife and two children. After starting his underground mining career in 2010, he quickly found more than just a job-he found a community. Inspired by the characters, camaraderie, humour and challenges of life underground, Tamati began putting pen to paper, capturing the moments that only miners truly understand.
Poems from the Deep is his first published collection, bringing together stories, laughs and hard-earned experiences from life beneath the surface. Through his writing, Tamati hopes readers-whether they’ve worked underground or not-gain an appreciation for the unique lifestyle, resilience and mateship that define the mining industry.
Appreciative of the opportunity provided by this town and industry, Tamati continues to enjoy the mining lifestyle and the people who make it one of the most rewarding communities to be part of.
