Description

The focus of this book is on Soviet relations with Iran’s communist parties, the Adalat Committee, Persian Communist Party, and Tudeh Party and their political ancestors in the context of Soviet raison d’état. This book examines the Soviet Union’s involvement in Iran and its approaches toward its southern neighbour, from the Bolshevik Revolution until after the Islamic Revolution, and presents the historical conclusion that Soviet Union’s relations with communist co-ideologues in Iran were overshadowed by diplomatic relations vis-à-vis the established central government of Iran, where Realpolitik was predominant over visionary solidarity with fellow communists.
