I admit, upon finishing reading this installment in the LONDON BABY series, I literally had goosebumps, and the hairs standing up on my arms. If we`re lucky, and we live somewhere within hearing distance of bells, we often take them for granted, which, as LB Bells illustrates with its compelling verse and illustrations, is not paying heed to all the history peculiar to that great city, witnessed by the glorious, audible works of art, ever accompanying humanity in joy and despair, but never to face it alone. Many names will -pardon the pun- ring a bell: among them Big Ben, and St. Mary-Le-Bow bells, their peals easily recognized throughout the world; they have carried their noble and comforting message far beyond their native shores, thanks to the BBC. Others are not quite as well known, which makes learning their fascinating background all the more welcome. It`s a short read, but lovely, and deserves a place on your shelf.
