Plumer’s treatment is very valuable, and even when he simply lists information, the reader will find much encouragement. Each chapter has either numbered applications, direct exhortations to turn to Christ and depend entirely upon Him for salvation and every needed blessing, or the author’s prayer-response to the material he has covered.

William Swan Plumer (1802-1880) was an American Presbyterian minister. His commentaries on Psalms, Romans and Hebrews are still widely appreciated.
