Description
On 3 February 2026, Javeria’s father, Saifudin Shaikh, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Five months later, he was gone.
Tuesdays with Baba is a daughter’s honest, first-hand account of those months. Every Tuesday brought chemotherapy and hope. The days in between brought hospital wards, difficult conversations, small victories and a family holding on to each other. From a falsely raised potassium result to Ward 622 of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, it follows the illness as the family lived it, day by day.
It is also a portrait of the man at its centre: a father who joked with his nurses, who loved to hear his son recite the Qur’an, who made dua for those who cared for him, and who met his final days with patience and dignity.
Written with simple words and with Urdu phrases kept as they were spoken, this short book is for anyone who has cared for a loved one through illness, or who has lost a parent. It is a story of pain, but also of gratitude, faith and love.
In loving memory of Saifudin Shaikh, who returned to Allah on 8 July 2026.
