Description

Compiled by William Spark, organist of Leeds Town Hall, and dedicated by permission to the Prince of Wales as Grand Master, the Liber musicus gathers anthems, odes, chants, marches and voluntaries for every ceremony of the Masonic lodge — opening and closing, initiation, passing and raising, installation, consecration and funeral — by Spark and his contemporaries, with arrangements of Handel, Gluck, Beethoven and others, a preface and a general index. Published in London by Metzler and George Kenning in 1874; reproduced in A4 so that the music and words keep close to their original size. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1874 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
