Unheard Voices: Poems for the Things We Carry
By Caroline Hammett | Founder of The Unheard Voices Project CIC
Some stories are spoken. Some are whispered. And some are carried silently for a lifetime.
120 poems. 12 chapters. Countless emotions. One message: Your Story Matters.
Unheard Voices: Poems for the Things We Carry is a deeply emotional collection of poetry exploring the feelings we often struggle to put into words.
From the heartbreak of losing someone you love to the invisible weight of trauma, mental health struggles and feeling different in a world that doesn’t always understand, these poems give a voice to experiences that are too often left unspoken.
Written around the themes at the heart of The Unheard Voices Project CIC, this collection explores:
Grief and loss – Missing those who are no longer here and learning to live with their absence.
Trauma and survival – The memories we carry, the battles nobody sees and the courage it takes to keep going.
ADHD and neurodiversity – Living with a mind that experiences the world differently.
Mental health – The difficult days, the quiet struggles and the hope that can exist alongside them.
Identity and belonging – Finding acceptance, embracing who we are and recognising that every voice deserves to be heard.
Love, family and healing – The people who shape us, the connections we treasure and the small moments that help us move forward.
The Wind Phone – The conversations we wish we could still have with those we’ve lost.
This isn’t a book that tells you how to heal or how you should feel.
It’s a book that sits beside you in those moments when words are hard to find.
Whether you’re grieving, surviving, searching for belonging or simply trying to make it through another day, somewhere within these pages you may find a poem that feels like it was written for you.
Because sometimes the most powerful words are the ones that remind us we’re not alone.
