Description
For The Forest Knows the True Beast, writers were invited to submit a short story or poem with just one rule: their piece had to end with the exact same final line:
The forest knows the true beast.
Everything that came before was entirely their own.
The result is an international collection of wildly different interpretations, moving through folklore, horror, fantasy, eco-fiction, dark fairy tales and poetry. Ancient creatures stir, landscapes fight back, familiar stories take unsettling turns and, again and again, the question of who or what the actual beast is shifts beneath our feet.
Different voices. Different worlds. The same final sentence.
And somehow, no two journeys to it are the same.
